Chlorine content of CPE ranges from 20% to 42%. The higher chlorine content of CPE, the more excellent flame retardancy, oil resistance and air tightness CPE-PVC blend will have.

Chlorine content of Chlorinated Polyethylene (CPE) ranges from 20% to 42%. The higher chlorine content of Chlorinated Polyethylene (CPE), the more excellent flame retardancy, oil resistance and air tightness CPE-PVC blend will have. But if the chlorine content is lower, CPE-PVC blend will have better low temperature resistance, foaming elasticity and compression bending property. As the chlorine content of Chlorinated Polyethylene (CPE) is lower, the performance ofChlorinated Polyethylene (CPE) approximates HDPE, on the contrary, it approximates PVC.

Properties of Chlorinated Polyethylene (CPE) vary from flexibility, elasticity, toughness and rigidity due to differences in molecular weight of raw material HDPE, chlorination degree, molecular chain structure and chlorination workmanship. When Chlorinated Polyethylene (CPE) is blended with PVC, two basic factors shall be taken into consideration in selecting the type of  Chlorinated Polyethylene (CPE), that is, chlorine content and the distribution of chlorine atom in HDPE molecular structure and index of residual crystallinity. When chlorine content of Chlorinated Polyethylene (CPE) is lower than 25%, Chlorinated Polyethylene (CPE) cannot be compatible with PVC Resin very well, so it’s not suitable to blend Chlorinated Polyethylene (CPE) with PVC. When chlorine content of Chlorinated Polyethylene (CPE) is more than 40%, it can be perfectly compatible with PVC and can be used as PVC plasticizer, while cannot be as impact modifier. With the chlorine content of Chlorinated Polyethylene (CPE) of 36-38%, it has relatively low crystallinity and glass transition temperature. In addition, it also has high elasticity and compatibility with PVC. Therefore, it can be used as impact modifier for PVC profile.
